The 33rd annual CSD Pool membership meeting took place on September 16 preceding the SDA’s annual conference. Unlike previous years, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both events took place online this year.
The meeting opened with a statement by the Pool’s Board President, Larry Moore, whose message was working with members as a risk partner to protect district assets—especially their employees—through proactive safety committees, ensuring that all district employees return home after their shifts. Larry then passed the mic to auditor Allison Slife of CliftonLarsonAllen, who delivered our yearend 2019 financial report.
Afterward, members of the Pool’s administration team provided a year-to-date update as well as an insurance market update where price increases were in the double digits, even with good experience. This was followed by an overview of risk management that highlighted the Pool’s investment in PowerNoodle, which will help districts solve their strategic decision-making while working remotely.
We then heard details on the 2021 renewal, with encouragement to contact Vicki Sullivan at pc@csdpool.org for help with your renewal process. The market is changing and getting more difficult, which is why the Pool’s Board is once again subsidizing necessary increases. This will help insulate members from serious changes while continuing to increase programs and services to control the total cost of risk.
We concluded the meeting by raffling off a number of door prizes, including SKIDTRUCK trainings, a Kindle Fire tablet, Yaktrax anti-slip shoe covers, emergency kits and other items that will help members better manage their risks.
