2019 CSD Pool Membership Meeting Recapped

2019 Meeting Draws Largest Crowd To Date

The CSD Pool membership meeting took place on September 19 during the SDA’s annual conference in Keystone. The meeting opened with a statement by the Pool’s Board President, Larry Moore. Larry then passed the mic to auditor Mark Elmshauser of CliftonLarsonAllen, who delivered our 2018 financial report.

Former FBI agent Michael Bazzell gave the keynote address on protecting organizations from cybercrime. Michael shocked the audience with live demonstrations of computer hacking. He described how hackers distribute stolen passwords every few years. Michael showed that people obtain those passwords almost effortlessly. He argued that each Pool member is vulnerable to cybercrime. He detailed the steps that every district needs to take in order to defend themselves against hackers. We want to bring Michael back to share his insights with members at a workshop next year. If you are interested in attending, please let us know.

Afterward, the Pool’s administration team provided a market update and details on the 2020 renewal. Consequently, the market is changing and getting more difficult. The Pool’s Board is once again subsidizing increases to insulate members from serious changes. Even while doing that, we are continuing to increase programs and services to control the total cost of risk.

We concluded the meeting by raffling off a number of door prizes. These included a Chromebook computer, a Kindle Fire tablet, Yaktrax anti-slip shoe covers, headphones and more.

This year’s meeting drew the largest crowd to date at 275 visitors, and we are looking forward to another great meeting in 2020. Don’t forget that the Pool sponsors scholarships for first-timers to attend the conference. We love meeting the members of the Pool and answering your questions face-to-face. Be sure to come on by our booth at the 2020 SDA Annual Conference.
