The CSD Pool will change the way we provide coverage for hail and wind next year due to the increase in severe weather losses over the previous three years. Starting in the 2020 coverage term, all members will have a 2% deductible for property losses caused by hail.
This means that rather than your normal property deductible, your deductible will be 2% of the value of the damaged property. There is a minimum $5,000 deductible and a maximum of $50,000, or the highest deductible shown on your property schedule.
For members in hail-prone areas, we will also require the Cosmetic Damage Waiver endorsement for Property coverage. This endorsements waives coverage for claims involving wind or hail damage to a roof that suffers only cosmetic damage. Cosmetic damage refers to scuff marks and dents that do not affect the structural integrity of your building’s roof and are not visible to patrons to your facility.
Currently these two endorsements each come with an 11% discount. Take advantage of these discounts now, because they won’t be available after June 30 and will not apply in subsequent coverage years.
If the roof needs to be replaced, meaning there’s damage to at least 50% of the roof, members will receive an additional 25% of the stated limit up to $250,000 to upgrade the roof to hail-resistant material. The increased cost up to that limit will be shared equally by the Pool and the member.
