In 2015, we began dual publishing The Risk Management Review online as a web magazine to give members quicker access to our knowledge base, and as a way of transitioning away from paper.
However, in repeated surveys since then, respondents indicated that they value getting this publication in paper. Many of them actually prefer it.
Financial costs of paper aside, there is also an ecological cost. Our April edition was slimmer than normal, but still meant 112,026 printed pages, or approximately 13.44 trees. Multiply that by four and it means we eat through more than fifty trees a year.
But in order to help ameliorate the ecological cost of paper printing, the CSD Pool has joined the PrintReleaf campaign, to help put back some of what it takes to produce our newsletter.
Going forward, PrintReleaf will replant an equivalent number of trees to recover what we print. Our April edition was the first to receive this treatment. Those thirteen trees mentioned above have already been replanted in operations in the Mountain West.
