IF THERE IS POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO ANOTHER PERSON’S BLOOD OR BODILY FLUIDS
NOTE: ONLY PERSONS TRAINED IN BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS SHOULD RESPOND
- Assume any blood or bodily fluid is infected with a contagious disease
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, face masks, etc.
- Thoroughly spray contaminated areas with disinfectant; If no specific cleanser is available, use a solution of 1:10 bleach and water
- Remove any non-sharp objects
- Remove any contaminated sharps (needles, broken glass, etc.) with a broom and dustpan (DO NOT USE YOUR HANDS)
- Clean the area again with cleansers and wipe up with paper towels
- Place all contaminated solids or cleanup materials in a red biohazard bag

- Wrap and tie the bags with biohazard tape
- Wash your hands and face immediately with soap
IF YOU WERE EXPOSED TO THE FLUIDS
- Wash all exposed parts of your body
- Seek medical assistance
- Document the incident
